The state has an obligation to further assist and stimulate the preservation of the Albanian language, said Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Nikola Camaj, on the occasion of February 21st - International Mother Language Day.

"The mother tongue is the foundation of our identity and a strong bond that connects generations through history, culture and tradition. The International Day is an opportunity to highlight the importance of preserving and promoting the mother tongue as a common national value and a fundamental right of every individual. As the Albanian language occupies a special place in relation to other languages that are in official use in Montenegro, it is the obligation of the state to further assist and stimulate its preservation. Therefore, let us join UNESCO's call for the promotion of multilingualism in order to ensure that each language has its place in public and institutional life," Camaj said.

He says that only through shared commitment can the mother tongue "remain a living and dynamic force for generations to come."

"Let us preserve and cherish our mother tongue, our identity and our culture," he said.
