Miloš Krstović, head of the councilors' club of the ruling Movement for Podgorica, announced that free public transportation for pensioners in the capital will be introduced.
"This measure aims to provide our oldest citizens with easier and safer access to all parts of the city," he said.
He says that, on behalf of the Movement for Podgorica, he has submitted an amendment to the Proposal for the Work Program of the Capital City Assembly for this year, by which they want to introduce free transportation for all pensioners - in the second quarter of this year.
"This measure is not a product of populist political leadership, but a measure of responsible city management, and I thank the Administration for recognizing the needs of our oldest fellow citizens. It is simply shameful that the DPS remembered that its citizens exist only after it went into opposition, after 30 years in power, keeping them on the brink of existence and using every moment of power to put its hand in the pocket of its citizens," the statement reads.
Krstović said that through this move they want to reduce the financial pressure on pensioners and "give them the opportunity to be even more active."
"By introducing free transportation, our pensioners will no longer be limited in their movement due to high transportation costs. My goal is for all our fellow citizens, regardless of age, to be equal and to feel safe and respected in every part of Podgorica," said Krstović.
