The civic movement URA has proposed an amendment to the budget of the Capital City - to reduce the budget item for official travel, representation and the like by two million euros and to transfer those funds to a pilot project introducing 50 percent subsidies for children who use extended stay services up to the third grade of elementary school.
They say that they proposed this amendment "aware of the fact that this service is necessary for all parents in the capital, and how expensive it is, taking into account the increase in all the living needs of citizens."
They add that this measure would allow parents to rely on quality care and supervision of their children after regular school hours, without a significant financial burden.
They also propose increasing allocations for local infrastructure, more precisely, increasing the amount for resolving property-legal relations, because this is "a condition for the implementation of many projects in the territory of the capital."
"Namely, the Civic Movement URA in the previous city administration launched numerous projects from a dead end, which are now being brought to the very beginning of implementation. Thus, after almost five years of waiting, the main project (GP) of all three phases of the promenade along Ribnica, from Sastavki to Karver, has been launched and probably already completed, while in order to announce a tender and introduce the contractor to the work, it is necessary to resolve the property and legal relations on the aforementioned route. Also, through the efforts of our staff and the serious engagement of the Agency for Construction and Development of Podgorica, the main project for Trg Golootočkih žrtava has been completed, as one of the capital projects that will revive the neglected part near the bus and railway stations. It is also necessary to resolve the property and legal relations on the route of the promenade along the Morača River, especially the part above Galeb beach, as soon as possible, which is why the ready and positively revised main project of the promenade has not been implemented so far," the statement reads.
URA has called on all councilors to support these amendments. "Let's show that the interests of the citizens of Podgorica and the development of the city come before political calculations and personal interests," the party says.
