Residents of Bijedići and Srđevac, where two quarries are being built, will block the roundabout at Ribarevine near Bijelo Polje, or the main roads towards Podgorica, Berane and Prijepolje, on Sunday, February 23rd at noon.
The representative of the citizens of Bijedići, Krsto Tvrdišić, called on citizens and all environmental activists to support this mass protest, with the main demand that the Government terminate the contract with the concessionaires, the companies "Elas" and "Imperial".
"We call on all citizens to support us because the city will be turned into quarries, which the Municipality, as it previously stated, views as investments, even though hundreds of citizens will be displaced. This is not just a fight for the citizens of Bijedići, Voljavec, Srđevac, Pod, Lozna, and other places, this is a fight for all those who mean well for their city and who want to protect all the natural resources that surround Bijelo Polje," Tvrdišić told Vijesti.
He emphasized that if the quarries are opened, the dust will reach every resident of Belopolje, every house.
"Bijelo Polje is such a place that, in addition to the current air pollution, it will become even more polluted," warned Tvrdišić.
