Last year, the Tivat Red Cross Municipal Organization organized two large collection campaigns in local markets, during which food and hygiene products were collected to help the local population in social need.
These actions, as well as the generous donations from citizens that the Red Cross received both individually and in other organized actions, resulted in the distribution of a total of 326 food packages, 286 hygiene packages, and 120 baby packages.
"A total of 612 food and hygiene packages were distributed, with an additional 120 packages with baby products. The structure of beneficiaries in need of humanitarian aid has remained the same: from elderly, single-person households, persons unable to work due to illness, large families with unemployed heads of household, persons living in particularly difficult conditions," was heard at the regular annual Assembly of the Tivat Red Cross.
Last year, activists of this humanitarian organization distributed over 1.500 bales of used clothing, bedding, and household items to poor fellow citizens, which were also donated by citizens.
This aid is mainly distributed to residents of informal Roma-Egyptian settlements, where there are over 380 people in social need who are being assisted by the Red Cross.
As part of the "Help at Home" program, which the Red Cross implements in cooperation with the Municipality of Tivat, over 2.400 visits were made to elderly and infirm citizens last year, 1.765 grocery purchases, 287 medication purchases, 210 administrative tasks, 95 visits to doctors, institutions, salons, religious services and ceremonies were carried out. 977 meals were delivered to the beneficiaries of this program, geronto-housewives took them for walks 198 times, and there were 84 emergency interventions.
Last year, the "Home Help" service was used by 52 elderly people who do not have close relatives or, for various reasons, cannot count on help from extended family members.
As part of regular voluntary blood donation activities, the Tivat Red Cross continuously carries out activities to motivate citizens and organize gatherings of voluntary blood donors. Last year, seven large voluntary blood donation campaigns were held, during which 151 units of blood were collected, 153 new donors were encouraged, and eight motivational lectures were held.
