The Islamic holy month of Ramadan begins today, and believers will spend it in fasting, prayer and forgiveness.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar, and its beginning is marked by the appearance of the crescent moon.
Several officials, political parties, and organizations sent congratulations on the occasion of Ramadan.

The Minister of Culture and Media congratulated all believers of the Islamic faith on the beginning of Ramadan.
"To all Islamic believers, I wish that Ramadan, the month of mercy, forgiveness and spiritual strength, is spent in peace and blessings, surrounded by the love and support of those who are most important to them. May the upcoming holy month of fasting and prayer be a spiritual inspiration for doing good deeds, for patience, compassion, solidarity and togetherness," said Vujović.
"The Islamic community in Montenegro plays an immensely important role in preserving the cultural and spiritual heritage of our country. Through its rich heritage, tradition and contribution to the cultural mosaic of Montenegro, the Islamic community represents an inseparable part of our shared history and identity. Its contribution to the art, literature, architecture and moral values of our country is immeasurable, and Ramadan is an opportunity to remember the power of spirituality that inspires togetherness and tolerance," she added.

Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro Boris Pejović often celebrated the beginning of the month of Ramadan.
"On behalf of the Parliament of Montenegro and on my own behalf, I extend my most sincere congratulations to Rifat ef. Fejzić and all citizens of the Islamic faith on the occasion of the beginning of the month of Ramadan," Pejović emphasized in his congratulatory message.
