Six Montenegrin municipalities have decided to subsidize children's stay in preschool institutions in their territories, announced the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić Stojanović.
"The Municipality of Žabljak since January 2023, the Municipality of Šavnik since January 2024, the Royal Capital of Cetinje since January 2024, and the Municipality of Plužine since January 2025 have provided 100 percent subsidies for paying the costs of accommodation and food for children in preschool institutions, while the municipalities of Zeta and Mojkovac since January 2025 have subsidized the costs of accommodation for children in the amount of 50 percent," the statement said.
The department headed by Jakšić Stojanović said that they support the efforts of local governments, which have also recognized subsidies for the costs of accommodation and food for children in preschool institutions in their budgets this year.
"The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation fully supports such initiatives, which aim to provide support to parents/guardians of our youngest children, but also to create conditions for all children to have equal opportunities and access to the educational process," they emphasized.
Jakšić Stojanović called on all other local governments to follow the aforementioned examples and recognize the importance of investing in improving the quality of the educational process at all levels because "together we can do much more and much better, in the interest of our children and society as a whole."
