The shelter for abandoned animals in Vreli Ribnički will get a new administrative building with the necessary rooms, the facilities for housing dogs will be expanded, and an open area will be created for them to stay outside the boxes.
The planned facility with accompanying facilities includes an urban plot of around 7.800 square meters and is located next to the current Shelter, they told "Vijesta" from Čistoća, which manages that area.
The shelter currently has 40 box units - 30 open and 10 closed, for housing abandoned dogs.
The PR manager of "Čistoća" Senada Mulešković said that now it can accommodate between 50 and 60 dogs.
"Starting from the available reception capacity for abandoned and lost pets, the employees are in the field every day as part of their work tasks, where they catch, transport and dispose of stray dogs from the Capital city area," she said.
Realizing that the accommodation capacities are limited, in 2016, in "Čistoća" they did a project, the implementation of which would enable the accommodation of a larger number of dogs.
The project, as Mulešković said, was done by the company "Arhient" from Podgorica.
According to him, at least 150 dogs could be accommodated in the Shelter in the future.
153 euros were provided for the project from the Capital City budget, while an additional 000 euros were collected in the "Be Responsible" campaign.
"Čistoća" said that the procedure for selecting the most favorable contractor for the construction of 124 boxes for the accommodation of stray dogs from the Capital City is underway.
"The value of the works is estimated at 203.000 euros," said Mulešković.
She added that expanding the capacity of the Shelter, as long as there are irresponsible owners, will not solve the problem of strays in the right way.
"At no time should we ignore the fact of the need for responsible ownership, because if there were no irresponsible owners, the number of stray dogs would certainly be lower," said Mulešković.
