Spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Miloš Nikolić, assessed that the initiation of police proceedings before the Court of Misdemeanors against columnist Brano Mandić is "another contribution to the sad times we are living in today."
"The police department, due to whose incompetence the lives of citizens of the Royal Capital were lost and which was unable to arrest a seventy-year-old man who terrorized the north of the country for more than a month, has initiated proceedings before the Court of Misdemeanors against Brano Mandić for a satirical column. By doing so, I guess, members of the security sector are saying that since they cannot protect citizens from murderers and bullets, they can defend them from words - especially those that criticize misogyny and sexism. Another contribution to the sad times we live in Montenegro today," Nikolić wrote on his account on the X network.
Mandić informed the public today that the Police Directorate has initiated proceedings against him before the Minor Offences Court in Podgorica due to allegations from a column in which he criticizes the public speech of University of Montenegro professor Aleksandar Stamatović.
