A life free from violence, discrimination and fear is a basic human right, not a privilege, said Tanja Markuš from the Center for Women's Rights (CŽP) at the March 8th March in Podgorica organized on the occasion of International Women's Day.
The March 8th march under the slogan "Rebellion" was organized by the Central Railway Company.

Markuš emphasized at the gathering that the goal is for everyone to fight together for the safety of all citizens of Montenegro, the RTCG portal reports.
"Today, as we fight for equality and justice, we face a system that is deaf to the needs of its citizens, which leaves us divided, unprotected and uninformed. For the umpteenth time, we are reminded that life without violence, discrimination and fear is a basic human right, not a privilege," Markuš stated.
She said that they demand effective protection of women and all citizens from violence and the eradication of institutional incompetence which, as she said, "we pay with our lives."
"We demand a functional judicial system based on ethics, not party affiliation," said Markuš.
She demanded accountability from all institutions, "who, through their negligence and ignorance, endanger our lives."
"And that's why there's rebellion. Rebellion as a response to injustice, to insecurity, to a state that won't, or can't, do its job. Rebellion as a symbol of justice, as the strength of those who refuse to be victims of the system, and rebellion as the energy that brings change," Markuš stated.
The march participants walked along Slobode Street, then Petar Cetinjski Boulevard, to the Blaž Jovanović Bridge, and then along Stanko Dragojevića Street and Bokeška Street back to Independence Square.
