A large fire is active on Mount Garač, and because of that fire in the Gostilje area, the Mayor of the Municipality of Danilovgrad Aleksandar Grgurović announced the filing of criminal charges.
Grgurović addressed his fellow citizens tonight, stating that the Municipality is facing a serious situation caused by fires, especially in the Garča and Gostilje areas.
"These fires are destroying nature, endangering the property and safety of our citizens. In recent days, we have been forced to engage aviation to prevent the spread of the fire and protect what is of inestimable value - our forests, homes and lives. This is not a coincidence or an unfortunate set of circumstances. This is about negligence, irresponsibility or deliberate destruction, for which we will take all legal measures against those responsible. Criminal charges will be filed against unidentified persons, and I demand that the competent institutions urgently prosecute all perpetrators," Grgurović wrote on his Facebook account.
He pointed out that fires are a crime against nature and a threat to property.
"No person who causes such damage through their actions or negligence will go unpunished. I call on all citizens to be vigilant, responsible and to report any suspicious activity. Only through joint efforts can we protect our nature and ensure the safety of all of us. The municipality will continue to take all necessary measures, but we expect a quick and decisive reaction from all competent institutions. Our nature and the safety of our people are priceless," he said.
