Strengthening cooperation between the State Prosecutor's Offices of Montenegro and Slovenia will contribute to the process of including the State Prosecutor's Office of Montenegro in the system of European prosecutors' offices with the aim of improving capacities and implementing European Union standards.
This was assessed during a bilateral meeting between the Supreme State Prosecutor (SSP) Milorad Marković and the Prosecutor General of Slovenia, Katarina Bergant, in Ljubljana.
The State Prosecutor's Office announced that on that occasion, Marković informed Prosecutor General Bergant about the reforms of the State Prosecutor's Office of Montenegro initiated during the previous year, which "contributed to concrete results in the fight against all forms of crime."
"We are aware that the results of the State Prosecutor's Office are very important for improving the rule of law and the European integration process of Montenegro. Our goal is to establish an efficient institution aligned with European Union standards, and in that sense, cooperation and exchange of experiences with colleagues from Slovenia is of great importance to us," Marković emphasized.
Bergant, as announced, expressed satisfaction with the content of the meeting with Marković, which was also their first official meeting.
"In every respect, I am satisfied with the content of our meeting, and especially with the willingness and determination of both sides to continue good cooperation between the prosecutors' offices of Slovenia and Montenegro," she emphasized.
The meeting was held during the International Conference on Strengthening the Integrity and Independence of Criminal Justice in the Western Balkans, which is being held in Slovenia.
