Work on the first four of a total of 11 phases in the Kolašin sports zone should begin in April, the Municipality told "Vijesti".
After several failed tenders with no interested bidders, the Bijelo Polje-based company “PNP Perošević” won the job in September last year. Over the course of four phases of the project, sports fields will be built in Lug, next to the promenade, and the value is just over three million euros.
The deadline for completion is 270 days from the date of the contractor's introduction into the work. The four phases include the construction of two tennis courts, two volleyball courts and two basketball courts, as well as a football stadium with an athletics track. This part of the work also includes the construction of supporting facilities for the courts.
As stated in the technical documentation, the first phase includes two basketball and volleyball courts with supporting facilities, stands and a fence. The second phase will include two tennis courts, the third will include an athletics track, and the fourth will include the main football field. The remaining seven phases of the complex near Tara, whose construction is planned for later, include another football field, an amphitheater with public toilets, an artificial lake, or ice rink, fitness trails and landscaping of the surrounding terrain...
The conceptual design for the appearance of the Sports Zone was developed by “NRA Atelier” in 2020. All the fields of the complex are intended for recreational and group training. The exception is the athletics stadium, which has a competitive character. The total area of the plot on which the sports zone will be built is 77.305 square meters, while the floor area of the buildings will be about 7.730 square meters.
As previously the vice-president of the municipality Vasilije Ivanovic He told "Vijesti", in addition to serving Kolašin athletes, the fields represent a good prerequisite for the development of sports tourism, for which the infrastructure has been lacking until now.
"The start of the construction of the sports zone represents the perfect foundation for sports tourism, which is further complemented by the fact that Kolašin is very climatically suitable and in demand for sports training. During my time as Vice President of the Municipality, there was interest from sports clubs from all over the world for various types of training, but the existing infrastructure did not suit most people," he explained at the time.
The Municipality of Kolašin expects that, after the completion of all 11 phases of the sports zone, Kolašin will become a recognizable destination for athletes to stay and train. The Municipality previously announced that they are committed to resolving the issue of the Youth and Highlanders' Center, which has long been out of municipal ownership, and that the best model for putting that facility back into operation is being considered. Municipality Manager Radovan Puletic recently announced that the conditions have been created for the adaptation of a part of the sports hall, which would in the future be intended for martial arts.
