The Municipality of Kolašin has issued a public call for the distribution of 10.000 euros intended to support couples in need of medically assisted reproduction (MAV).
As explained, these funds will be allocated to cover costs related to exercising the right to infertility treatment through MPO procedures.
The Regulation on the criteria, method and procedure for allocating funds for MPO, which was adopted last year, prescribes the criteria, method and procedure for allocating funds. As stated in the public call, 4.000 euros will be awarded to couples in a married or common-law union, or to a woman who does not live in a married or common-law union, and who have exercised their right to infertility treatment through MPO procedures at the expense of mandatory health insurance costs.
The amount of 1.000 euros goes to those who are starting or have already started infertility treatment using the MPO procedure.
According to the rulebook, the criteria for the distribution of these funds are the age of the woman, the number of joint children, the number of failed attempts at MPO and the amount of monthly income of married or common-law spouses. As it says, the commission will also take into account the specific life circumstances of the applicant.
"The allocated financial resources can be used exclusively for the treatment of infertility through MPO homologous and heterologous in vitro fertilization (IVF and ICSI) procedures, as well as for costs incurred during the implementation of this procedure," the Regulation states.
In 2024, the municipality allocated 8.000 euros to support couples who need MPO. The Kolašin opposition said at the time that the total co-financing of MPO costs should be 20.000 euros. It was proposed that beneficiaries who can no longer obtain funds for the MPO procedure from the Health Insurance Fund receive up to 80 percent of the costs in the country and up to 60 percent of the costs of the procedure abroad from the local budget. It was also proposed that those who are in the MPO procedure from the Health Insurance Fund be co-financed with 500 euros according to the attached invoices.
