The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and the Police Directorate achieved record results last year in the fight against all forms of crime, said Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Šaranović.
Šaranović said that he and Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić spoke in Brussels with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and the European Parliament rapporteur for Montenegro, Marijan Šarec.
As announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Šaranović said that they jointly noted their satisfaction with the level of implementation of the plan in all fields, especially in the fight against organized crime and corruption and the implementation of obligations from the European agenda.
"The Ministry of Interior and the Police Directorate have truly achieved record results in the fight against all forms of crime in the past year," said Šaranović.
He stated that these results are the key reasons why the security system enjoys the highest level of credibility ever.
Šaranović said that at the meeting they also discussed the success of the implementation of obligations from the integration process.
"We agreed with our interlocutors that the Ministry of Interior is a positive example of how, with dedication and determination, any result can be achieved and any task accomplished, regardless of the challenges in which we operate," added Šaranović.
He said that the Ministry of Interior implemented all interim benchmarks in the previous year and has 100% implementation of the strategic framework.
Šaranović added that seven laws and bylaws were adopted in the previous year.
"We continue to work decisively and courageously on the implementation of the final benchmarks, we are strengthening our system, and the projects we have started, especially in the area of border security, are proof of our commitment that the borders of Montenegro will become the new borders of the European Union in the Balkans in record time," concluded Šaranović.
