Members of the Montenegrin Parliament today adopted amendments to the Law on Social and Child Protection, which stipulate that families with more than five children will also receive child allowance.
Amendments to the Law on Social and Child Protection were initiated by deputies from the Bosniak Party (BS), and their proposal received the support of 45 deputies.
BS MP Edina Dešić said that this corrects the injustice towards children and large families, which, as she stated, are a rarity today.
She reminded that the current legal solution stipulates that the right to child allowance can be exercised by a maximum of five children in a family, which discriminates against other children in the family.
"We need to send the message that all children are the same and equally important," said Dešić.
As she stated, bearing in mind that, in accordance with the Constitution, Montenegro is a state of social justice, care for every individual, especially children, must be carried out without exception and selectivity.
The amendments to the Law exclude the obligation for children who are beneficiaries of personal disability benefits to be in full-time education until the age of 18 in order to be entitled to child benefits.
Dešić said that some children, who are beneficiaries of personal disability benefits, are unable to attend school regularly due to health reasons.
