The Health Insurance Fund organized a three-day professional workshop, from March 19 to 21, with the aim of strengthening the administrative and technical capacities necessary for the introduction of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) into the Montenegrin healthcare system.
As they explained, the implementation of this card will enable our citizens to move freely and provide emergency healthcare at the level of the entire European Union.
The workshop was implemented through the TAIEX program (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument), within the approved application entitled Expert Mission on Implementation of the European Health Insurance Card in Montenegrin Healthcare System.
"The workshop was led by three experts from the European Union: Gabriella Berki, lecturer at the University of Szeged, Hungary; Frederic de Wispelaere, research expert from HIVA University – KU Leuven, Belgium; and Sanja Gusić, Head of the Business Support and Business Reporting Service in the IT Sector, Croatian Health Insurance Institute. The workshop was attended by representatives of the Health Insurance Fund of Montenegro, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Dialogue, the Clinical Center of Montenegro, KBC Kotor, the Capital City Health Center and the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance," the statement reads.
They say that the workshop participants had the opportunity to gather the necessary knowledge and experience from European partners for the successful implementation of the EHIC system.
"The acquired expertise will be particularly important for the preparation of proposals on strengthening administrative capacities in the health sector of Montenegro, especially in the area of digitalization and management of international health insurance," the HIF announced.
