The Dental Chamber of Montenegro has a sincere partner in the Ministry of Health in a joint effort to provide Montenegrin citizens with the best dental care.
This was stated by the Director General of the Directorate for Health Protection, Regulated Professions and Supervision of the Functioning of Professional Regulatory Bodies (Chambers) at the Ministry of Health, Ognjen Delić, at last night's opening of the Fifth Congress of Dentists of Montenegro.
The new model of dentistry in Montenegro, as he explained, will be based on three key pillars of development.
"These are the steps to return dentistry to the level of primary health care, thereby strengthening state dentistry and providing citizens with easier access to services," said Delić.
He cited improving cooperation with private practices that have contracts with the Health Insurance Fund as a pillar of development.
Delić said that Montenegro, thanks to its professional staff and modern equipment, has exceptional potential to become a recognizable destination on the map of European dental tourism.
"In this sense, I welcome the intensive and concrete activities of the Dental Chamber of Montenegro. I believe that we have an ally in you and on the occasion of, as I expect, justifiably rigorous control measures to ensure the highest quality standards in dental care," Delić added.
Acting President of the Dental Chamber, Jelena Bulajić, said that the opportunity for cooperation with state institutions obliges the Dental Chamber to persist in its advocacy for a fair and just system of evaluating the work of Montenegrin dentists, but also for improving the accessibility and efficiency of dental healthcare in our country, she said.
Speaking about the quality of Montenegrin dentistry, Bulajić emphasized that it is at the world level.
"Unlike other branches of medicine, dentistry in Montenegro has all the resources of modern dental medicine. All dental procedures can be performed in our country, without the need to go abroad," said Bulajić.
The President of the Scientific Committee, Tanja Boljević, explained that the program sought to cover the most current topics - from preventive dentistry and early interventions in children, to advanced surgical techniques and digital protocols in prosthetics.
The President of the Organizing Committee, Aleksandar Kostić, emphasized that the congress, in addition to professionals with decades of experience, is attended by students and young doctors.
He said that continuing education is not only a professional obligation but also the basis for the future progress of dentistry.
"That is why it is of utmost importance that young dentists in their country have the opportunity to meet with colleagues whose work they already cite in their own papers," said Kostić.
This year's congress is being held under the slogan "Modern Approaches and Trends in Dentistry".
The congress, which brought together over 350 experts from the country, region and the world, lasts until March 23rd.
