Six water factories produced 44.640.713 liters for commercial purposes, the director of the Water Administration said yesterday during a press conference. Vesna Bajović.
According to her, water is "powerful" - it connects and builds, so a strategic approach is needed to preserve the stability of water systems.
"It is crucial to invest in adaptive measures. Climate change is a reality, and water is the most precious resource we have," said Bajović.
As she said, the Water Administration's budget last year amounted to almost half a million, while the income was more than five million euros.
"Revenues from water and concession fees have increased, which contributes to sustainable financing of the water sector. We have continued to modernize the water information system (VIS), improved data integration and advanced digital processes. 2024 euros have been allocated to finance obligations and needs for water resource management in 491.200. The funds have been allocated in three groups of purposes: water resource management (350.000 euros), VIS management (108.000 euros) and Funds necessary for the functioning of the program (33.000 euros)," said Bajović.
Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vladimir Jokovic He said that the modernization of the water resources monitoring system creates a basis for making better decisions in this area.
"Montenegro is recognized as a country with opportunities for exporting high-quality drinking water... Our water is a resource that can be placed on the foreign market," said Joković.
Velibor Spalevic, a professor at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Montenegro (UCG), stated that glaciers are key reserves of fresh water.
"Almost 25 percent of fresh water is found in glaciers, which is why they are important. Their retreat is one of the most important indicators of climate change. The most famous glacier in the Balkans is Debeli Namet on Durmitor," said Spalević.
Head of the Department of Applied Meteorology and Climate Change at the Institute of Hydrometeorology Mirjana Ivanov She said that the number of frosty days and snowfall in the northern region has decreased.
"Montenegro must focus on implementing adaptation and mitigation measures for greenhouse gases, primarily carbon dioxide, given that it is the gas with the longest lifespan and the longest retention in the atmosphere," said Ivanov.
The Water Administration, in cooperation with the "Do Good" Foundation, and with the support of the Education Bureau, this year organized an art competition for sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grade elementary school students, and the winners were: Armin Muric i Djurdja Obradovic (first place), Lana Martinovic (second place) and Suncica Novovic (third place).
