The Education Inspectorate will propose the dismissal of the director of the Bijelo Polje "Miloje Dobrašinović" Gymnasium, Jasminka Međedović, and the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation has announced that, after reviewing the facts established during the inspection, it will act in accordance with the law.

This was announced by the department headed by Anđela Jakšić Stojanović.

"In the case of the incident at the 'Miloje Dobrašinović' Gymnasium, the Ministry, immediately upon learning of it, took all measures and actions within its jurisdiction. By order of the Ministry, an inspection was carried out in the field of education and upbringing in the institution and an inspection in the field of rights and obligations based on work, as well as administrative supervision by the competent Ministry of Internal Affairs in the field of protection of persons and property in the said institution," the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation specified.

They point out that the Education Inspectorate has identified shortcomings in the work of the management bodies of the institution, namely the actions of the responsible person - the director of the institution.

"... Upon reviewing the minutes of the Education Inspection, it was determined that the acting inspector will take administrative measures and actions within his jurisdiction and propose the dismissal of the director of the institution, Ms. Jasminka Međedović. After reviewing the factual and legal findings established during the inspection, the Ministry will determine the case in question in accordance with the law," they explain.

They say that the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation will, in this and all other cases, insist on protecting and respecting the integrity of every educator and their personal and professional dignity, and will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure a professional and safe environment for work and learning for every individual.

"The Ministry will, as before, promptly inform the public about the outcome of the measures taken by the competent authorities," they said.

Students of the Bijelo Polje High School have been protesting for days, demanding the removal of the principal, explaining that the situation with the outgoing teacher Novo Vuković is not the only one in which she did not act properly and legally.

Previously, a video circulated on social media showing a security guard entering a class, asking Vuković to leave.

Principal Međedović, in a statement sent to the media, said that Vuković arbitrarily and on his own initiative, without informing or discussing with the school administration, removed the hired geography teacher from class and from the office on March 13th and took over the implementation of the teaching without authorization.

Međedović also said at the time that on February 26, Vuković signed a decision on the use of annual leave, which runs from March 12 until his official retirement, by force of law, on April 8.

She pointed out that the school had, in the meantime, hired a geography teacher for the sake of continuity of teaching.

Last week, Vuković told "Vijesti" that he continued working on March 12th and that he did not stop working or start his vacation, which he was supposed to use before retiring.

He emphasized that the celebration for his farewell was scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, and that director Jasminka Međedović scheduled a cross-country race for that day "in order to obstruct the celebration."

"I continued working out of revolt, even though I had previously signed a decision for a vacation, which was supposed to begin on Wednesday, March 12th," he told "Vijesti" at the time.
