The Center for Civic Education (CCE) has not yet received any information about what has been done regarding, as they say, the proven lack of promptness of special prosecutor Nataša Bošković, even though the non-governmental organization (NGO) contacted the Prosecutorial Council in early March.
The NGO pointed out that Bošković had "kept several cases in a drawer" for a long time - including two criminal reports that CCE filed with the Special State Prosecutor's Office back in 2022, and added that they also had knowledge of other cases in which the prosecutor acted inadequately, thereby causing damage to individual citizens and the reputation of the prosecutor's office.
However, as they stated, this did not encourage the Prosecutorial Council to initiate the procedure for her dismissal.
The CCE reminded that a year ago the Prosecutorial Council determined that prosecutor Bošković had acted illegally in one of these cases, while in the other there was allegedly an "intensification of work", but only after the interest of superior authorities.
"We expect the Prosecutorial Council, which began its mandate with high expectations that it would contribute to the efficiency and depoliticization of the prosecution, to finally determine the disciplinary and other responsibilities of Special Prosecutor Bošković. This case is a reflection of serious systemic weaknesses and it is important how the Prosecutorial Council will respond to it through concrete actions," the NGO said in a statement published on the Iks platform.
