Former President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović sued the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK) over a decision that he violated the law regarding the Atlas Bank revolving card.

The lawsuit states, writes "Dan", that for two and a half decades, Đukanović performed his duties honorably, conscientiously and with the highest degree of responsibility towards his obligations, and that the ASK decision, which determined that he violated the Law on the Prevention of Corruption by failing to report an increase in assets in the amount of 16.741 euros, was made with the unequivocal intention of portraying his personality as criminal, arrogant and unworthy of the function and reputation he enjoys in the society and state of Montenegro.

He sought damages for violation of his personal rights in the amount of 5.000 euros due to the decision by which that institution found that he had violated the law regarding the Atlas Bank revolving card.

The lawsuit submitted a few days ago to the Basic Court in Podgorica, which "Dan" had access to, states that Đukanović is a former president and former prime minister of Montenegro, and has served in multiple terms.

"He currently bears the honorary title of "former President of Montenegro". For more than two and a half decades, he performed his duties honorably, conscientiously and with the highest degree of responsibility towards the obligations arising from the high positions he held. In the same way, he always treated the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, aware that, as a public official, he is obliged to do so by the Law on the Prevention of Corruption. He consistently respected the public interest, working for the benefit of the common good and prosperity of all citizens under equal conditions, in accordance with Article 4 of the Law on the Prevention of Corruption. He regularly and transparently submitted reports on his income and assets, as well as the income and assets of members of his common household, in accordance with Articles 25, 26 and 27 of the aforementioned law," Đukanović's lawsuit states.
