The average unemployment rate (the ratio of the number of registered unemployed to the active population) in Kolašin last year was 30,31 percent, which is two and a half times higher than the unemployment rate at the state level in the same period.
However, as stated in the Information on the Status and Trends in the Labor Market of the Kolašin Labor Bureau, which will be presented to councilors at the next session of the Municipal Assembly (MA), a certain decrease in the number of unemployed people in that city is gradually occurring.
"The unemployment rate in December 2024 in the municipality of Kolašin was 28,8 percent, and compared to the unemployment rate in December 2023, when it was 33,8 percent, the rate decreased by five percentage points. The average rate was 30,31 percent, and compared to the previous year, it decreased by 3,49 percentage points," the information reads.
At the end of last year, the Kolašin Labor Bureau registered 670 unemployed people, which is 125 fewer than in December 2023. Of that number, 259 people have level I and II qualifications, while 344 people have level III, IV and V qualifications, and 67 people have level VI, VII and VIII education (university graduates).
In the qualification structure of the total number of unemployed, the dominant share is held by those with III, IV and V levels of educational qualifications, and about 51 percent of them. University graduates make up 10 percent of the total number of unemployed. Among the unemployed there are also 75 people with disabilities, and among this category women dominate, about 65 percent. Last year, employers reported 242 vacancies to the Labor Bureau, which is 42 less than in 2023.
"According to feedback received from the Tax Administration of Montenegro, during 2024, there were a total of 221 employments in the municipality of Kolašin from the records of the unemployed of the Employment Service (ZZZ). The most employed were high school students with the fourth level of education classification (37,1%), followed by high school students with the third level of education classification, and then university graduates," the information signed by the head of the Kolašin Labor Bureau, Veselin Milošević, reads.
He announces numerous activities that should significantly reduce the number of unemployed people in the city. The information also describes projects that have been implemented so far to address this problem.
