Associate Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences (FPN) Nataša Ružić has received an award from the University of Montenegro (UCG) for her contribution to the development of scientific research.
As announced by the University of Montenegro, Ružić was nominated for the award by the FPN Council, and the award was presented to her by Rector Vladimir Božović.
The University of Montenegro said that Ružić is one of the key figures in the development of media and communication studies at the University.
"Her academic career is marked by notable results in teaching and rich scientific research production, making a significant contribution to the development of science in Montenegro," the statement says.
Ružić began her academic education at prestigious international institutions, including the Druzhba Narodov State University in Moscow, where she earned a Master of Science degree with the highest grade.
She defended her doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Montenegro, which, as stated by the University of Montenegro, completed her strong scientific and academic foundation.
"She provided an additional research dimension through her engagement at the Institute of Political Science at the University of Vienna, where she developed research in the field of the impact of the Internet on social change," the statement says.
It is emphasized that, throughout her university career, Ružić continuously contributed to the reputation of the Faculty of Law, both through direct teaching work and through the organization and management of study programs.
The University of Montenegro said that Ružić, as Vice-Dean for Teaching and Development at the Faculty of Journalism and Media Studies, and as the head of the Media Studies and Journalism Study Program, played a key role in modernizing and updating curricula in line with contemporary social challenges.
As they added, her scientific bibliography includes chapters in monographs of national importance and dozens of scientific papers published in highly rated international journals, such as Studia Europejskie, Communication and Media, CM, Anthropological Notebooks and others.
"The thematic framework of her research work encompasses a wide range of contemporary and relevant issues: from media literacy, media populism, disinformation, hidden and native advertising, through the transformation of the media system in Montenegro, to the role of the media in informing citizens about European integration and climate change," the statement states.
The University of Montenegro said that Ružić's engagement is not limited to the academic community, and that her cooperation with UNICEF is particularly noteworthy, within which she has developed manuals and guides for students and professors, with a focus on children's rights and responsible journalistic practice.
"By awarding this recognition, the University of Montenegro confirms the significance of its contribution to the development of scientific research and the academic community as a whole," the statement says.
