The Board of Directors of the University of Montenegro (UCG) today appointed Prof. Dr. Vladimir Savković as Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro.
Also, the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Igor Lakić, was re-elected, starting his second term. At the session of the UCG Board of Directors chaired by Prof. Dr. Milivoje Radović, the deans were elected at the proposal of the faculty council, with a positive opinion from the Rector of UCG, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Božović, according to a UCG press release.
"In addition to his regular teaching duties, Professor Savković is a member of the Senate of the University of Montenegro and the holder of the Jean Monnet Chair in the Law of the Internal Market of the European Union, which was recently established at the Faculty of Law, with the support of the European Commission. He has been a long-time lecturer at the Center for Training in the Judiciary and State Prosecutor's Office, and in the period from 2012 to 2018, he was a member of the Negotiating Group, the main expert body of Montenegro for accession negotiations with the European Union, responsible for leading negotiations in several negotiation chapters related to the EU internal market. He has been engaged in numerous projects aimed at improving Montenegrin and regional legislation as a national or international expert for the World Bank, UNDP, the World Intellectual Property Organization, GIZ and other international organizations," the statement reads.
Professor Savković is the independent author of six scientific books, of which the most notable are "Commentary on the Law on Companies", "Internal Market Law of the European Union", the first textbook on EU law published at the University of Montenegro, as well as two scientific monographs in English, published by Kluwer Law International.
"He is the author of over 50 scientific papers published by renowned international and regional publishers, such as Kluwer, Brill, Wiley, the University of Zagreb and the University of Belgrade. During his career, he trained at the University of Nebraska in the USA, Sophia Antipolis University in Nice, the Europe Institute in Saarbrücken, Nova University in Lisbon, Regent's University in London, Central European University in Budapest and the UNCITRAL headquarters in Vienna," the UCG statement states.
Professor Lakić is a full professor and former Dean of the Faculty of Philology. He held the position of Vice-Dean for Teaching (1995-2004) and Dean (2004-2012) of the Institute of Foreign Languages.
"He is the President of the Society for Applied Linguistics of Montenegro, the Association of Conference Interpreters of Montenegro and a member of the Committee of Experts for Regional and Minority Languages at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. He is the author of monographs, textbooks, as well as numerous works published in international and domestic monographs and journals, including journals on the SCI, A&HCI and Scopus lists," the statement added.
The Board of Directors, as they said, in addition to personnel issues, also considered items from the domain of the University's regular operations.
