A group of ten Peace Corps volunteers will take an oath next week, committing to two years of service in Montenegro.
As announced by the Peace Corps, the new volunteers will be sworn in on April 9th.
"Peace Corps volunteers will collaborate with colleagues from Montenegro, teach English, launch meaningful programs and initiatives for youth, organize extracurricular activities, and much more," the statement said.
It was announced that the ceremony will be attended by the United States Ambassador to Montenegro Judy Rising Reinke, the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić Stojanović, the director, volunteers and employees of the Peace Corps, representatives of civil society organizations, teachers, and school principals.
The statement said that the swearing-in ceremony marks the commitment of a new group of Peace Corps volunteers who will join forces with Montenegrin colleagues and volunteers, who are already working in Montenegrin schools as English teachers.
"In addition to their personal dedication, the ceremony celebrates the partnership between U.S. Peace Corps volunteers and their Montenegrin counterparts, including teachers and community members," the statement said.
It is added that the ceremony reflects the shared commitment of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation to advancing quality education and highlights the successful partnership between Americans and Montenegrins.
"Following the ceremony, ten volunteers will move to their locations and begin service in Montenegro from April 10," the statement said.
The Peace Corps is an international network of volunteers, community members, host country partners, and employees driven by the agency's mission of world peace and friendship.
The Peace Corps stated that, at the invitation of governments around the world, their volunteers work together with community members on projects that are local priorities in the areas of education, health, agriculture, community economic development, and youth development.
As they said, since US President John F. Kennedy founded the Peace Corps in 1961, over 240 Americans have served in 142 countries around the world.
It is stated that the Peace Corps volunteers are in Montenegro at the invitation of the Montenegrin Government.
It is added that the Peace Corps' Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) program aims to improve English language teaching and learning methods, which enhances the professional, academic, and personal capabilities of teachers, students, and community members.
