The Secretariat for Inspection Affairs of the Municipality of Pljevlja has called on residents of rural areas to report all illegal activities related to the transport of timber - roundwood.
"We especially appeal to receive information about processors and transporters who illegally transport roundwood, thereby destroying rural roads. You can submit reports by phone: 068/451-462," the call states.
The local administration says that this problem will be solved systematically, that there will be no more privileged people, and that the local administration will closely monitor the condition of local roads.
"The Municipality of Pljevlja will take all necessary measures to prevent further illegal actions and protect the infrastructure of our villages," the invitation from the Secretariat for Inspection Affairs of the Municipality of Pljevlja states.
The call came after officials from the Secretariat for Inspection Affairs recently organized an ambush in the area of the village of Mijakovići, after receiving a tip from locals that trucks transporting lumber from nearby forests were destroying a village road and disrespecting municipal decisions on permitted axle loads on local roads.
The Secretariat announced that they had police assistance during the operation.
The President of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Dario Vraneš, said at the time that he would put an end to all arrogant concessionaires and privileged individuals.
