Lieutenant Colonel Ilija Đuričanin took over as Commander of the 1st Infantry Battalion of the Army of Montenegro from his predecessor, Major Vlado Bulajić, at a ceremony at the "Milovan Šaranović" barracks in Danilovgrad, led by the Chief of Staff of the General Staff, Colonel Mitar Klikovac.
"Today's handover of duties is not just a formality, but a symbol of continuity, responsibility and development. The Montenegrin Army has always strived for excellence, and it is people like Major Bulajić and Lieutenant Colonel Đuričanin who ensure that this standard remains unchanged," said Klikovac.
As announced by the Ministry of Defense, he emphasized that Bulajić left an indelible mark on the 1st Infantry Battalion, thanked him for his professionalism and dedication to the unit, and wished him success in his future career, which he is continuing with his education abroad.
"Also, Lieutenant Colonel Đuričanin is an officer who began his military career in this unit and knows its values and challenges perfectly. I believe that, like the previous commander, he will continue to improve the unit and its members with his knowledge and authority," emphasized the Chief of Staff of the General Staff.
Klikovac said that the Army of Montenegro remains committed to improving its capacities to protect the country, and that he is certain that the 1st Infantry Battalion will continue to play a key role in our defense system.
This battalion is the largest land combat unit of the Army of Montenegro, "whose forces are declared and assessed according to the highest NATO standards," the statement reads.
