The Traffic Administration has requested an urgent statement from the designer, auditor, contractor and supervisor regarding the installation of a sign indicating Peć as a city in Serbia, not Kosovo, and has ordered the contractor to remove the sign, the institution announced.

They said they are taking all necessary steps to fully clarify the circumstances surrounding this case, as well as to take further action to determine responsibility.

"The Traffic Directorate is implementing the second phase of the project 'Improving traffic safety in primary school zones on state roads in Montenegro', which includes 10 primary schools in the country. The aim of the project is to improve the conditions for the safe movement of students and other traffic participants near school zones," the statement reads.

"The project documentation on the basis of which the works are being carried out was prepared by "VL Inženjering" DOO Budva, which was revised in May 2024 by the company "Ding" DOO from Podgorica. The works are being carried out by the Consortium "Signal - Hill Construction - Geodeting- Via project", and supervision is carried out by "Projectman" DOO from Podgorica," the Traffic Administration said.

They state that the project also includes the "Petar Dedović" Elementary School in Murina (Plav municipality), "in whose area a traffic sign was placed in recent days that caused public unrest."
