The former MP in the Parliament of Montenegro and a long-time councilor of the Nikšić Municipal Assembly, passed away on April 3rd.

New Serbian Democracy MP Marko Kovačević said that Milatović was respected and admired everywhere.

"He was someone who was very good throughout his life, a student and worker, a good politician. He dedicated his life to politics and gave us younger people the opportunity to develop and progress. He believed in us and in all the struggles we waged, he stood in front of his children, in front of all of us, to show by his example how to do things and which path to take. As an honorable man, he fought for his principles but never fought against another man, he was always there to help everyone without getting in their way," said Kovačević, the Parliament of Montenegro announced.

Miloš Milatović spoke on behalf of the family, expressing his gratitude to those present for the warm words of comfort and reminders of what their husband and father was.

"Janko was a man who did not divide people, but always tried to be the one who brought people together, reconciled, and was there to listen to other people's problems and concerns. He was a steadfast fighter for freedom, justice, truth, and all Christian values. In this difficult moment for our family, our hearts are full of gratitude for all the love, attention, and care that you all gave us," said Miloš Milatović.

Assembly President Andrija Mandić said that he remembers Milatović with deep respect.

"Janko was a man with a great soul and an even bigger heart. His honesty and love of justice were an example to all of us who had the honor of knowing him and sharing with him the common fight for justice and freedom of our compatriots. He was the pride and honor of our political struggle, the embodiment of selflessness, always ready to help others in need. He walked proudly and uprightly through life, taking care of every person and always being consistent with himself and his beliefs," said Mandić.

According to the Assembly, he recalled all the political activities and joint struggles in which Milatović participated.

"Montenegro will always remember his speeches in this hall because he was a true representative of the people. In his words, one could feel emotion, solidarity with the disenfranchised and all those who have waited so long for justice," said Mandić.
