Children and people with autism, as well as their parents, need to be provided with essential assistance during the daily needs and challenges they face, and each department will listen to specific problems and find solutions for the areas under their jurisdiction.
This was announced after today's meeting of representatives of several government departments and representatives of parents of children and people with autism.
As announced by the Ministry of Health, during the meeting, the relevant ministers and representatives of institutions were informed about the obstacles that are part of the everyday lives of children and people with autism, and specific solutions were proposed, for which the interlocutors agreed that there are possibilities for their short, medium or long-term implementation.
"In an open conversation, the specific needs of these people were comprehensively presented, as well as the support they expect from institutions at both the state and local levels," the statement said.
It is stated that ministers and representatives of institutions presented to parents the level of fulfillment of certain strategic documents and activities that are part of their powers.
"And they committed to monitoring the level of implementation of the requests and needs discussed by representatives of parents of children and people with autism through continuous contact in the coming period," the statement added.
The Ministry of Health said that the interlocutors agreed that there is certainly room for progress in this area.
It was assessed that only together can a support system be established that will, above all, be tailored to those for whom it is intended and who need it most, namely children and people with autism and their families who, as emphasized, must have the help of the state and all its institutions.
It is stated that the meeting in the Government was attended by the Ministers of Health Vojislav Šimun and Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography Damir Gutić, Secretary of the Council for Children's Rights and Advisor to the Prime Minister's Office Tijana Ivančević.
It is added that the meeting was also attended by the Director of the Clinical Center Aleksandar Radović, the representative of the Health Insurance Fund Radovan Nikolić, representatives of the ministries of education, science and innovation, human and minority rights, and representatives of non-governmental organizations and foundations fighting for the rights of children and people with autism, Goran Laković and Sabina Decević.
