Chief of Staff of the General Staff Mitar Klikovac symbolically, on behalf of the Armed Forces of Montenegro (AVCG), assumed the one-year chairmanship of the FINABEL Charter at a meeting in Zagreb, which brought together commanders of land forces of European countries.
As announced by the Ministry of Defense, the topic of the meeting was "Shaping the Future of Combat: New Techniques and Force Structures", and renowned experts and military representatives exchanged information, experiences and opinions on contemporary security challenges, i.e. joint efforts to make Europe safer and stronger.
The ministry said that the Montenegrin presidency will be dedicated to the area of "Paradigm Shift: Enduring Sustainability of Drones and Autonomous Systems in Modern Warfare".

"During its one-year chairmanship, the Armed Forces of Montenegro, in cooperation with allies and partners, will support the development of studies on this topic and thus make a significant contribution to improving the capabilities and capacities of European land forces, i.e. achieving interoperability," the statement states.
The FINABEL Charter was established in 1953, and its original goal was cooperation in the field of weapons programs.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the Charter now represents an apolitical, flexible and independent organization focused on the interoperability of land forces and is currently the only European center specialized in interoperability issues.
So far, as they pointed out, more than 500 security studies have been produced, which have strengthened military cooperation between European countries and contributed to the process of strengthening military interoperability.
"At the same time, the initiative has evolved in line with contemporary security challenges and needs and consequently has become a successful mechanism for harmonizing land army doctrines," the statement said.
