Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić Stojanović met with representatives of the Council of Europe - Head of the Department for Formal and Non-Formal Education Sarah Keating and Head of the Council of Europe Program Office in Podgorica Lejla Dervišagić.
The meeting discussed the upcoming conference of the European Space for Citizenship Education (ESCE), which will be hosted by Montenegro on October 13th and 14th.
ESCE is a Council of Europe initiative aimed at promoting quality civic education across Europe.
"The main goal of this initiative is the development of democratic culture, enabling individuals to be active and responsible citizens, and their inclusion in democratic life and addressing contemporary challenges. The preparatory phase of the ESCE was previously launched at a conference in Berlin, while the conference in Montenegro will focus on the role of educators in this context," the Ministry announced.
They also discussed Montenegro's upcoming chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and the importance of the ministry's participation in that process.
The projects "Quality Education for All" and "Prevention of Peer Violence in Schools", which are currently being implemented, were also discussed. The importance of these projects for future cooperation with the Council of Europe and for certain systemic solutions that the ministry is preparing was emphasized.
"At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the continuation of their successful cooperation aimed at improving the quality of education in Montenegro," the statement reads.
