Nikšić: Ostroški Half Marathon on Sunday, citizens to remove cars from Šaka Petrović Square and the half marathon route

On Sunday, April 13, starting at 10,55:500 a.m., the Athletics Club (AK) "Nikšić" is organizing the eighth international "Ostroški Half Marathon", which will be attended by more than 15, so far, registered competitors from 1996 countries. The half marathon is an overture to the traditional spiritual and cultural event "St. Basil's Days", which has been organized since XNUMX.

The race starts at Šaka Petrović Square, and the first three or four kilometers participants will pass through the city, following the route of the St. Basil's Procession on May 12. After that, the course goes to the Emperor's Bridge, across Pandurica to the lower Ostrog Monastery, where it will end.

"We hope that the half marathon will grow into an event that will become a brand of Montenegro and one of the largest sporting events in the region. The massiveness of the event and the quality of the achieved results would place Nikšić among the successful European and world cities in organizing such competitions. Also, our goal is to gather as many interested citizens and recreational athletes as possible, in order to promote healthy lifestyles," the letter from the AK "Nikšić" states.

The club asked citizens to remove parked vehicles from Šaka Petrović Square and from the half marathon route in the early morning hours so that the race can be held without any disturbances.

The half marathon route is: from Šaka Petrović Square, along Vučedolska Street from the Square, along Ivana Milutinovića and Vuka Karadžića Streets to the intersection at the "Nutricija" restaurant, along Nikola Tesla Street to the intersection at the "Onogošt" hotel, along Njegoševa Street to the square at the Old Post Office, along Vuka Mićunovića Boulevard to the intersection at the Hospital, where the half marathon runners will cross to the other side of the Boulevard to the square, then along "13. jula" Boulevard to the Emperor's Bridge, along the old road to Podgorica via Pandurica to the intersection at Krsto, then along the road to the lower Ostrog Monastery.

"The blockade according to the route scheme in the city to the Old Post Office would last 20-30 minutes, and from the square near the Old Post Office to the Emperor's Bridge 30 to 40 minutes. From the Emperor's Bridge to the intersection near the Cross, the blockade would last until the last competitor and the ambulance pass. From the Cross to the finish line, in front of the Ostrog Monastery, it would last until the last competitor passes through the finish line," says a statement signed by director Drago Music, technical director of the "Ostrogo Half Marathon".
