More than 60 Montenegrin students are gaining new knowledge, skills and necessary academic experience at almost 30 higher education institutions in Europe, according to data from the University of Montenegro (UCG).
Through the "Erasmus+" program, students are enabled to spend one or two semesters on exchange at one of the 190 universities with which the University of Montenegro has signed agreements.
“Erasmus+” is the largest European Union (EU) program in the field of education, youth, training and sport. Montenegro has been participating in this program since its inception – in 2000, but it was then known as “Tempus”.
The University told "Vijesti" that they have been "actively participating in the program" since 2014.
"... Which enables students to exchange and stay at partner universities. Through this program, students have the opportunity to spend one or two semesters at one of the 190 universities with which the University of Montenegro has signed agreements. During their stay, they are provided with a monthly scholarship in the amount of 800 to 900 euros, and travel expenses are also covered," explained the UCG.
Germany, Greece, Spain, Latvia...
They reminded that there are currently 68 exchange students who are "pursuing their mobility at some of the prestigious universities in Europe."
"These are the following higher education institutions: University of Saarland, Free University of Berlin, University of Piraeus, University of Zagreb, University of Pécs, Technical University of Riga, University of Tours, University of Huelva, University of Granada, University of Bologna, Agricultural University of Athens, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, University of Heidelberg, Aegean University, University of Szczecin, University of Ljubljana, University of Camerino, SGH Warsaw School of Economics, University of Seville, "Lucian Blaga" University in Sibiu, University of Turin, University for Foreigners in Perugia, Technical University of Ostrava, University of Novi Sad (UNS) and University of Applied Sciences Breda," the UCG stated.
According to them, the students who are currently on exchange are studying at different faculties of the University.
"Including the Faculty of Architecture, the Faculty of Biotechnical Engineering, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (ETF), the Faculty of Philology, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management (FTH), the Faculty of Civil Engineering. They also come from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Medicine, as well as the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor. There are students from the Faculty of Law, as well as the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (PMF)," they replied to "Vijesti".
Their data showed that there are currently seven students from the Faculty of Medicine and one each from the Faculty of Law and Philology at the University of Montenegro at the University of Saarland in Germany.
"... Four from the Faculty of Law, while one student from the Faculty of Philology. At the Free University of Berlin, there are two students from the Faculty of Economics, and one from the Faculty of Philology. At the University of Piraeus, there is one student from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Montenegro. The University of Zagreb is currently attended by four students from the Faculty of Architecture, and one student each from the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Law. At the University of Pécs, in Hungary, there are three students from the Faculty of Architecture. The Technical University of Riga is attended by one student from the ETF. At the French University of Tours, there are currently two students from the Faculty of Architecture," they said.
The University of Huelva, as well as the Agricultural University of Athens, are each hosting one student. According to the UCG, the University of Granada, in Spain, is a temporary academic home for one student each from the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics.
"The University of Bologna is attended by one student each from the Faculties of Architecture, Law and Science. The University of Seville currently has two students from the Faculty of Philosophy. The Universities for Foreigners in Perg and Turin are attended by two students each from the Faculty of Philology. There is currently one student in doctoral studies at the University of Novi Sad (UNS)...", said the UCG.

Responding to the question of "Vijesti" whether the University of Montenegro has data on the success of students at its faculties, they said that they regularly and regularly receive transcripts of grades with their successes.
"... Which are sent to the home faculty and on the basis of which academic achievements are recognized. Past practice shows that the majority of students successfully pass exams and achieve excellent results at foreign universities," they said.
As they claim, the vice-deans of the home faculties from which the students come "are in regular contact with them during their exchange stay."

It is important to note that according to the rules of the 'Erasmus+' program, basic support for students during their stay is provided by the home university, similar to the support that the UCG provides to students who come on exchange to our university," the University explained.
They recalled that 54 mobility competitions are currently open for the winter semester of the academic year 2025/26.
