Celebrating 145 years of existence of the "Risto Manojlović" Elementary School: There is no shortage of talent or enthusiasm

As the principal of the Kolašin Elementary School, Marijana Bulatović Medenica, said, "from the year 1880, when the doors first opened to students, to the present day, the school has remained consistent with its mission - not only to educate children, but also to raise them and guide them on the right path."

The Kolašin Elementary School (OS) "Risto Manojlović" celebrated its 145th anniversary today, and the School Day was marked by a rich cultural and artistic program, in which several dozen students participated. With their performances, they once again showed that they lack neither talent nor enthusiasm, nor the support of their teachers.

The audience, which included many retired teachers of the school, as well as former students, had the opportunity to hear and see numerous recitations, dramas, musical performances and dance choreographies from the stage of the packed hall of the Cultural Center. The ceremony was opened and closed by a performance by the numerous school choir, which once again performed a carefully selected repertoire.

As the principal of the Kolašin Elementary School, Marijana Bulatović Medenica, said, "from the year 1880, when the doors first opened to students, to the present day, the school has remained consistent with its mission - not only to educate children, but also to raise them and guide them on the right path."

"There were many challenges, and the school fought in the only way it could - with the combined strength of all its stakeholders: students, school staff, parents, with the selfless help and support of the local community, as well as the institutions, NGOs and institutions with which we cooperate. Today we are where we are, with great pride, but also an obligation to preserve the memory of the five Oktoih awards - the highest awards for education in our country," said Bulatović Medenica.

According to her, the goal of her colleagues is to "provide children with a quality education, to develop skills that will enable them to more easily face life's challenges." Also, as the director said, the goal is to enable the healthy growth of every child at school.

"Some of the former students of this school are now famous doctors, artists, professors, politicians, athletes... It is nice when the biographies of now internationally famous students state that they graduated from the 'Risto Manojlović' Elementary School. However, it is an even better feeling when our students grow up to be good people who know how to appreciate, respect, appreciate others' opinions and proudly express their opinions, help others, believe in themselves and in their knowledge - regardless of their profession or level of education," said Bulatović Medenica.
