The largest number of vehicles registered in 17 were around 2024 years old, according to data from the Statistical Office (Monstat), which was published yesterday in the publication "Annual Statistics of Traffic, Storage and Communications".

According to the same data, the largest number of vehicles in Montenegro uses diesel as fuel, compared to 2023, the number of those using autogas is smaller, while, although still insignificant in the overall statistics, the number of electric vehicles is increasing.

The publication "Annual Statistics of Transport, Storage and Communications - 2024" contains preliminary annual data on the development and condition of means of transport, business entities engaged in transport, as well as preliminary data on turnover in postal, courier and telecommunications services.

Thus, according to Monstat data, the number of registered road motor vehicles and trailers last year was 306.686, which is 7,5 percent more than in 2023, when the number of registered road motor vehicles and trailers was 285.257.

The number of newly registered road motor vehicles and trailers in 2024 was 36.871, which is 18 percent more than in 2023, when the number of newly registered road motor vehicles and trailers was 31.238.

When it comes to the number of registered passenger cars by year of production, last year the most registered vehicles in Montenegro were those produced in 2007 (20.614), followed by vehicles produced in 2008 (19.227), and vehicles produced between 1990 and 1999 (19.181).

Last year, just over 4.000 (4.292) vehicles manufactured until 1990 were registered.

In the year covered by the publication, 2024, 2.946 registered vehicles were produced. The fewest were produced in 2021 (2.482).

In relation to the type of fuel, last year the most vehicles registered in Montenegro were those using Eurodiesel (237.320), and this number of vehicles was slightly higher than the year before (220.396). This was followed by vehicles using Eurosuper 95 (52.851 in 2023, compared to 55.164 in 2024).

The number of hybrid and electric vehicles is increasing: 2023 hybrid and other vehicles were registered in 1.232, while that number almost doubled last year (3.221).

There were 2023 so-called electric cars in 552, while last year there were slightly more, 715.

Compared to 2023, there is a smaller number of vehicles using autogas (5.561 in 2023, compared to 5.024 in 2024).
