The Municipality of Bijelo Polje, in cooperation with the Red Cross, on the occasion of the greatest Christian holiday - Easter, provided a donation - 120 packages for socially vulnerable families, worth 9.000 euros, half of which will be distributed through the "Mileva Vojvodić" soup kitchen, for which food for preparing meals worth more than 3.000 euros was also donated.
As the manager of the "Mileva Vojvodić" kitchen, Archpriest Stavrophor Darko Pejić, said, the soup kitchen in Bijelo Polje has more than 100 users to whom food is delivered to their doorsteps every day, and for the same number of families, to whom daily delivery of meals is not possible due to the distance and inaccessibility of the terrain, they provide food packages every three months, in the area of the municipalities of Bijelo Polje and Mojkovac, adding that the donation from the Municipality and the Red Cross will reach 60 of the most vulnerable families.
The Red Cross explained that 120 packages with basic food supplies and hygiene products have been prepared, 60 of which are intended for users of the Soup Kitchen, while 60 will be distributed through the Red Cross.
The President of the Municipal Red Cross, Miloš Kljajević, emphasized the importance of such activities, the joint care of the local government and the Red Cross for fellow citizens in a state of social need, but also of helping all those who work to ensure that fellow citizens have safe hot meals.
"In the spirit of solidarity and togetherness, we continue to care for our fellow citizens who are in need. Easter is a holiday of hope, love and renewal, and this is just a continuation of the continuous assistance and care that we provide in accordance with our capacities and possibilities. I thank you for your initiative, dedication and humanity, and I assure the public that we will continue with similar activities in the future," said Klajević.
"I would like to take this opportunity, as the Director of the Soup Kitchen, to thank the Municipality of Bijelo Polje and the Red Cross, for this significant donation, which has ensured that our fellow citizens and believers will be at peace for a longer period of time because they will have a meal that does not cost us much and means a lot to them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and may God repay all those who help a hundredfold. Let us wish and hope that the time will come in Bijelo Polje and everywhere that there will be no hungry people, but while there are some, we will find them and help them," said Pejić.
The Municipality of Bijelo Polje and the Red Cross continue to act jointly, with the aim of providing concrete assistance and support to the most socially vulnerable categories of the population, promoting the values of humanity and care for the community.
