A 42-year-old Russian citizen was rescued after being bitten by a venomous snake while hiking above Kotor.
"After receiving an emergency call for help on 112 on April 21 at 14:40 p.m. and receiving information that the life of a mountaineer was in danger in inaccessible terrain above Kotor, the Operational Communication Center 112 of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue immediately took all measures and actions and organized and coordinated the rescue operation," the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
The SAR units (search and rescue), the Directorate's helicopter units, members of the Protection and Rescue Service and medical staff of the Kotor Emergency Medical Service participated in the operation.
"Thanks to the rapid response of all involved services, a Russian citizen (42 years old) was successfully rescued, who was bitten by a venomous snake while hiking. In the coordination of the aforementioned emergency services, timely response, transportation of rescuers and medical staff with serum to the endangered person, as well as his further transport to the Kotor Clinical Hospital Center, were of crucial importance," the Ministry of Interior adds.
The department thanked all emergency services for their "professional cooperation and dedication" which, they point out, resulted in saving human lives.
