Niches for containers intended for waste disposal in Nikšić have been given a new, modern look that has been visually enriched, and the creative expression was provided by artist Dragan Bulajić Neuro.
The niche decoration campaign is being implemented by the Municipality of Nikšić, as an introduction to the programs of the Urban Culture Festival, which will be held in the city under Trebjes during the summer months.
"Through the application of various 'street art' solutions, the urban space has been visually enriched, and Dragan Bulajić Neuro has given the space a recognizable aesthetic value. It is planned to continue with the arrangement of similar areas in the inner city in the coming period, so that the entire urban environment will gain a unique and recognizable visual identity," the Municipality of Nikšić announced.
The action, as they pointed out, is an introduction to a series of activities that will be implemented in the coming months with the aim of Nikšić receiving a representative regional event in the field of muralism, as part of its candidacy for the title of European Capital of Culture.
"During the summer, Nikšić's facades will be painted by some significant names from the world of urban art, as part of the cooperation that the city has already started with similar regional initiatives and festivals. In this context, at the end of this week, Nikšić will host representatives of the 'Days of Urban Culture' festival, one of the most successful initiatives in the region. These activities represent an introduction to the 'Festival of Urban Culture', which will be held during the summer months and will include several segments and programs, with the central event - painting murals on buildings in the inner city," the press release states.
The festival will be jointly implemented by the Municipality of Nikšić and the Office "Nikšić European Capital of Culture - 2030", which will position the city, in anticipation of the finals of the European Capital of Culture selection, as stated, as a recognizable festival center of Montenegro and as an environment that enriches its cultural scene and tourist offer through such projects.
