The Herceg Novi Municipal Assembly, at its session on March 21, approved the decision of the Board of Directors of the Municipal and Housing Company, which establishes a new price list for utility services.
The new stall rental prices, reports the RTHN portal, have unpleasantly surprised tenants.
On the other hand, the Board of Directors' decision stated, among other things, that when adopting the new price list, they took into account the total estimated costs of doing business and the needs of financial sustainability, taking into account the general economic interest of citizens. They remind that they have not changed the rental prices for stalls and business premises since 2020.
Duška Radomirović, who has been selling fish at the fish market for decades, told RTHN that the multiple price increases represent an excessive expense for tenants.
"The first day after the vote, they raised prices at the fish market. We pay 10 euros a day for a refrigerated counter that can hold three cases. That's 300 euros a month. The monthly rent is 40 euros. They all determine according to Tivat, but in Tivat they have a refrigerated counter that can hold 10 cases. I have to earn 35 euros right from the start to cover my daily expenses. Fish prices haven't changed and we can't raise them because we won't have any buyers. Even now, if there weren't Russians and these few tourists, no one would buy," said Radomirović.
Agricultural producer Mila Vavić points out that the price of daily stall rental has increased from three to 10 euros.
"If I didn't have my own products, I wouldn't be able to do it at all, and if I hadn't paid for the entire winter, I would have given up on the lease. I feel sorry for our customers, because we will also have to raise our prices," said Mila, who stated that they have signed contracts for two months so far.
The Municipal Housing Company confirmed that the decision of the Board of Directors from November 2024, which was approved by the Herceg Novi Municipal Council in March this year, is valid. The new price list includes rental prices at the markets in Herceg Novi and Igalo, as well as the services of the City Chapel. The new price list will be applied from May 1.
