The Ambassador of Palestine to Montenegro, Rabi Alhantouli, paid an official visit to the Municipality of Pljevlja, where he also spoke with the Mayor of the Municipality, Darija Vraneš.
"The meeting took place in an atmosphere of mutual respect, during which opportunities for developing cooperation in the field of culture and humanitarian initiatives were discussed. Both sides emphasized the importance of fostering dialogue, solidarity and friendly relations between the peoples of Palestine and Montenegro," the office of the Mayor of Pljevlja announced.
As part of the visit, the collective humanitarian exhibition "Palestine through Montenegrin eyes" was officially opened at the Public Institution Art Gallery "Vitomir Srbljanović" in cooperation with the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Montenegro.
The exhibition represents an expression of support and solidarity of thirty-seven Montenegrin artists with the people of Palestine, and will be open to the public from April 24 to May 16, 2025.
Vraneš emphasized that the reason for the gathering is not only an artistic manifestation, but also a sign of humanity and solidarity with the people of Palestine, who are currently going through one of the most difficult humanitarian tragedies of modern times.
"As a people, we know what suffering means. We could not remain silent in the face of the suffering of others, especially when innocent people suffer - when children suffer," Vranes said.
He added that the Municipality of Pljevlja considers it its obligation to send a message of peace, compassion and support.
"The image of a child in the ruins - whether in Kosovo and Metohija in 1999 or in Gaza in 2025 - is an image that demands our attention, our reaction, our voice. It is not just a question of politics, it is a question of humanity," said Vranes.
Alhantouli thanked for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of developing cooperation with local communities in Montenegro, as well as the importance of institutional and human solidarity in times of global crises.
"The Municipality of Pljevlja remains committed to openness and cooperation with all diplomatic representatives in Montenegro, with the aim of improving relations and promoting the universal values of peace, understanding and tolerance," the statement said.
