Only four Kolašin non-governmental organizations (NGOs) proposed their projects in the competition for the distribution of funds from the municipal budget. The NGO Fund Distribution Commission decided to allocate a total of 8.000 euros, or 2.000 euros to each of the organizations that applied for the competition. Thus, out of a total of 10.000 euros allocated for this purpose, 2.000 remained unallocated.
“Rural Potential” is one of the projects that will be supported from the local budget, and was nominated by the NGO “Felis Lynx”. The Center for the Study and Revitalization of Traditional Games (CIRTIP), for the project “Costumes, Hearts, Faces - Photographs with the Hearts of Our Municipality” will also be supported. The project is implemented throughout the year.
The NGO Cluster Initiative received support of 2.000 euros for the project “Strengthening technical capacities, procurement of equipment and improving conditions for proper management of protected areas”. The project lasts four months. The project “Initiating a public discourse on the challenges of single parenthood in Montenegro” will also be supported. It will be implemented over nine months, and the lead organization for these activities is the NGO “Mama i ja”.
As previously decided, the priority areas of public interest for which the Municipality will provide financial support to NGOs are, among others, the preservation of cultural potential, tradition and cultural specificities of the municipality, as well as initiatives and activities aimed at raising the level of urban culture and preserving cultural heritage. Also, priority is given to small and local activities that encourage greater involvement of young people in decision-making processes, environmental protection and rural development.
Last year, the municipality repealed the previous decision on financing NGO projects and adopted a new one. It was also determined that the minimum amount of funds allocated cannot be less than 80 percent of the requested amount and that a project can be financed with a maximum of 20 percent of the total funds provided for in the budget.
