The Women's Rights Center called on the Ministry of Health and the management of the Clinical Center of Montenegro to publicly distance themselves from the behavior of doctor Vladimir Peruničić, who was arrested today.
They called on the Medical Chamber to speak out and initiate proceedings before the Commission for Ethical Issues and Deontology, in order to determine responsibility and take measures in accordance with the Code of Ethics.
"These days, we have been convinced for the umpteenth time that no social status, function or professional title is an obstacle to humiliating women. The host of the City RTV, Magdalena Čelanović, reported the doctor of the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG) Vladimir Peruničić to the police for several days of harassment, insults and sexist comments. The disgusting behavior of Dr. Peruničić towards the journalist of the City Television is not only illegal, but also represents a violation of the reputation of the medical profession," the statement reads.
They say that doctors should be a symbol of care, protection of life and dignity, "so this case requires a reaction from the healthcare system as well."
"We welcome the reaction of the Police Directorate, and we also expect the prosecution to determine whether the behavior of doctor Peruničić contained elements of a criminal offense that is prosecuted ex officio," the Central Police Directorate announced.
