The Association of Professional Journalists of Montenegro condemned the "extremely inappropriate and unacceptable behavior" of Dr. Vladimir Peruničić towards their member, City RTV journalist Magdalena Čelanović.
The DPNCG calls on the Medical Chamber to take steps within its jurisdiction and determine whether Peruničić's behavior is in line with ethics, which "must be the first priority for healthcare workers both during and outside of working hours."
Peruničić was arrested today, after journalist Čelanović reported him for harassment.
"Although the procedure is ongoing, there is no doubt that when addressing Čelanović, Peruničić did not care about the reputation and dignity of the profession and preserving the noble tradition of the medical profession," said DPNCG Vice President Danilo Ajković.
He said that the timely reaction of the Police Directorate is commendable, especially since attacks on female journalists are not abating, "which instills fear in every woman who does this job that she could be someone's target."
"The Society of Professional Journalists calls on both the Clinical Center and the Ministry of Health to clearly distance themselves from this behavior, which harms every healthcare worker who knows that they must protect the sanctity of the white coat even after leaving the hospital," Ajković said.
