The Center for Civic Education (CCE) welcomed the reaction of the Police Directorate in the case of the detention of Clinical Center doctor Vladimir Peruničić, following a report by City TV journalist Magdalena Čelanović for harassment through sexist, offensive and threatening comments.

"This case confirms how important it is for institutions to react quickly and decisively to protect the dignity, safety and rights of journalists and all media workers, especially women who, unfortunately, have become regular targets of misogyny and public abuse in Montenegrin society," they said.

They say they also expect a responsible reaction from other institutions – the Ministry of Health, the Clinical Center, and the Medical Chamber in their areas of jurisdiction, in order to send a "clear message that this is unacceptable."

"Only by consistently applying the law and adequately sanctioning this behavior can we build a society of equal rights, freedoms and respect," the CCE announced.
