According to the Report of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), implemented with the support of UNDP, the Municipality of Nikšić was recognized as the best local government in Montenegro for its results in implementing anti-corruption measures.
This was announced by the President of the Nikšić Municipal Assembly and member of the National Anti-Corruption Council. Nemanja Vuković.
"This result confirms that, in the past period, we have managed to build a local administration that functions responsibly, transparently and, most importantly, in the interests of citizens. This is the success of every employee in the Municipality of Nikšić, a great recognition for all who work every day to be an example of good governance," Vuković emphasized.
As stated in the press release, the report included an assessment of 21 municipalities, and the municipality of Nikšić was assessed as the most successful when it comes to strengthening integrity, transparency and accountability at the local level.
"In the time ahead, we will continue our dedicated work, because we firmly believe that strong local self-government is one of the most important foundations of a strong, prosperous state," said Vuković.
The assessment was conducted based on a methodology developed in cooperation between ASK and UNDP, and relies on the practice of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission of the Republic of Korea.
