The spring edition of the Podgorica Bazaar will open on Monday, May 5th at Independence Square and will last until May 21st, offering a diverse cultural and entertainment program, as well as an opportunity to present local producers, the Capital City announced.
The director of the Podgorica Tourist Organization, Dragan Grnović, emphasized that he believes that all fellow citizens and visitors are eagerly awaiting this event, bearing in mind that the New Year's edition of the Podgorica Bazaar was unfortunately canceled due to, as he said, circumstances known to all.
"In the technical part of the preparation of the Market, we have corrected the criteria in some priority areas and with the aim of highlighting producers, artisans and craftsmen for whom, we believe, the Podgorica Market is the right opportunity to present and market their products," said Grnović and emphasized that 48 houses were awarded through a public call, which the Capital City is providing completely free of charge this year. "We have published the final ranking list of tenants and the contracts will be signed today and tomorrow, when the tenants will receive the keys to the houses and will have enough time to prepare their offer," said Grnović, according to a statement from the Capital City.
The Secretary of the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital City, Snežana Tomanović, pointed out that the entertainment program will feature those performers who were planned for the New Year's market, but that the Podgorica audience will also hear some new names.
"On the opening day of the Bazaar - May 5th - the Sarajevo band Hari Mata Hari will perform, on May 10th, the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro will present a concert by the band Perper in honor of Victory Day, and Jelena Rozga will also perform on the same day. After that, on May 12th, Tamara Todevska will perform, on May 15th, Grupa Vatra, on May 16th, Dejan Petrović and the Big Band, on May 17th, Mostar Sevdah Reunion, and on May 21st, the Spring Bazaar will be closed by the Novi Sad band Frajle," announced Tomanović.
Grnović is convinced that TO Podgorica made a good overture to the spring edition of the Podgorica Bazaar with the events organized in the period preceding the celebration of March 8, the "Flowers to Flowers" event, "Easter in the Heart of Podgorica" and the Montenegrin Manifesto, as well as by participating in the preparation of the World Water Polo League and the presentation of the Capital City's offer during the European Judo Championship.
"We believe that the tourist year 2025 is promising and we eagerly await the statistical data from April, when there was practically no free accommodation capacity in the city for the entire month.
In addition to the Spring Bazaar, the Tourist Organization of Podgorica also supports other events in the territory of the Capital City, so this month we can also expect the Podgorica Wine Salon - on May 16th in the atrium of the Capital Plaza center where Tijana Bogićević will perform, on May 31st the event 'We all dance, we give our hearts with dance' will be held in cooperation with folklore ensembles, and on May 31st and June 1st the Off Road Summer Rally on Ćemovsko Polje", concluded Grnović and invited all fellow citizens and visitors to enjoy the numerous programs that will be organized in the capital in the next month.
