Minister of Public Works Majda Adzovic After the end of his mandate, he will not be offered a job at the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), the institution responded to "Vijesti" yesterday.
Adžović has been the head of the Department for International Cooperation, Standards and Public Relations since June 2023, and the decision on her assignment to that position was made by the then director. Jelena Perović, now accused of abuse of office.
In November of the same year, she was appointed State Secretary at the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property, which was then headed by Janko Odović, which is why she requested a suspension of her employment status at the Agency.
The minister's office sent a letter to the ASK editorial office regarding the status of her employment at the Agency. They explained that the Labor Law stipulates the possibility of suspending employment until the end of one mandate.
"And it is an indisputable fact that Ms. Adžović, in addition to her first appointment to a public office, was re-appointed as State Secretary in August 2024, and then as Minister in the 2025th Government of Montenegro in April 44. However, we do not have information on whether the competent body of the ASK has made any decision in this case, so we believe that you could only get a complete answer to this question from the ASK. We note that the ASK is aware of all appointments of Ms. Adžović to public offices, and that Ms. Adžović fully leaves it to the competent bodies of the ASK to make a decision in accordance with their powers and in accordance with their interpretation of the cited legal norm," the Ministry of Public Works said.
The Agency said yesterday that "Majda Adžović's employment has been terminated in accordance with the Labor Law."
"On June 16, 2023, the Director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption issued a decision to assign Majda Adžović to the position of Head of the Department for International Cooperation, Standards and Public Relations at the Agency for an indefinite period. The position was filled according to an internal advertisement for employment for an indefinite period, which the Human Resources Administration published in January of that year, for the needs of the Agency. On November 27, 2023, the Director of the Agency issued a decision according to which the rights and obligations of the employee Majda Adžović are suspended due to her appointment as State Secretary at the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property until the end of her term, at her request. With the new assignment, which occurred in the following period, Majda Adžović's employment at the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption was terminated, in accordance with the Labor Law," the Agency specified.
The Ministry of Public Works also states that in the internal advertisement from January 2023, Adžović was ranked first in the screening process.
"Therefore, the Director of ASK, as the body competent for issuing decisions on employment, in this specific case was obliged to issue the aforementioned act, taking into account that all legal conditions for its issuance had been met," the responses state.
According to the current Law on Civil Servants and State Employees, the head of the authority is not obliged to select the first-ranked candidate from the list of candidates, but has the discretion to select any of the three best candidates from the list, after checks with the Human Resources Administration.
