For the general progress of society, it is important to have a strong, independent and efficient judiciary, consisting of judges and an intellectual elite, capable of shaping the Montenegrin legal system in a decisive manner through targeted interpretation and consistent application of regulations, developing it in the spirit of European legal standards and acquired-and - the legal heritage of the European Union, said the President of the Supreme Court, Valentina Pavličić, in a speech at the World Congress of Lawyers in the Dominican Republic.
The Supreme Court announced that the largest global legal event, taking place from May 3 to 6, is an open forum that brings together presidents of the highest national courts, heads of state, judges, academics, lawyers, notaries, activists, students and other related experts related to the legal world and the rule of law, to exchange experiences and create models of cooperation to strengthen and expand the rule of law and its institutions.
The three-day congress will feature more than 300 speakers and panelists from around 70 countries around the world, who will discuss a variety of topics, from the regulation of artificial intelligence to the independence of the judiciary, challenges in corporate practice, and analyze some of the most important issues currently facing the rule of law at the global level, for which the legal community needs to propose solutions.
The President of the Supreme Court, at the invitation of the founders of the International Association of Eminent Family Law Lawyers, attended a meeting at which she received an invitation to join that association of eminent experts in the field of family law.
Pavlić will also attend the ceremony to present the 2025 World Peace and Freedom Prize, which will be awarded to United States Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, and at the invitation of the event organizers, together with the highest dignitaries, he will attend a royal lunch hosted by King Felipe VI of Spain.
The patron of the congress, which is being held for the 29th time, is the World Lawyers Association (WJA), which has existed for 55 years and whose mission is the slogan "A world ruled by law, not force."
